Excavations is a series of installations and large prints of photographic works created between 1999 and 2002, which focus on discoveries at unexpected places. Things found were they should not be, like the black monolith buried under the moon’s surface in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001. The process of reconstruction backstories from a few fragments is very imaginative. The more fragmentary and unknown a site is, the more it becomes a place for imagination and myths. 

Excavationsは、1999年から2002年にかけて制作された写真作品のインスタレーションと大判プリントのシリーズで、思いがけない場所での発見に焦点を当てている。スタンリー・キューブリック監督の「2001年宇宙の旅」に登場する、月面の下に埋もれた黒いモノリスが、あるはずのない場所で発見された、という事柄のように。数少ない断片から物語の裏付けを再構築するプロセスは、非常に想像力を掻き立てる作業となる。断片的で未知の場所であればあるほど、そこは想像と神話の場となり得る。
