Stainless Steel
12.0m x 2.6m x 3.6m
Qingsha Park, Hangzhou / China
Sculpture made of about 150 laser-cut stainless steel parts, placed in Qingsha Park in Hangzhou near the Great Canal of China. Like the Great Canal itself, this 18-ton work started out near Beijing and then was transported in one piece about 1400 km by truck to its final location in Hangzhou. The form is a combination of different, sometimes opposing harmonic functions, within the same layered structure.
