No. 1 was build in 1996 for the Towa House Building in Kokubunji, Tokyo and marks the start of a series of sculptures based on a certain type of modular structures (called ‘No.1 type module’ or simply No.1). It has become the foundation of several works with very different appearance. Within these works, identical modular elements form a larger more complex body, similar to cells of an organism. Each element includes the “genetic” information of a larger geometrical structure and allows a multitude of variations and generations. A family of rare, unknown species.

No.1は、1996年に東京・国分寺の藤和ハウスビルのために制作され、ある種のモジュール構造（「No.1型モジュール」または単にNo.1と呼ぶ）をベースにした一連の彫刻の始まりとなった。この作品は、全く異なる外観を持ついくつかの作品の基礎となっている。これらの作品では、同一のモジュール要素が、生物の細胞のような、より複雑な大きな身体を形成している。各要素は、より大きな幾何学的構造の「遺伝子」情報を含み、多くのバリエーションと世代を可能にする。希少で未知な種の家系である。
